(UTV | COLOMBO) – President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued directives to administer the booster shot using mobile services to all persons aged 60 or above who have completed three months since receiving the second COVID-19 vaccine dose.

The decision was taken during today’s COVID-19 prevention committee meeting.

Mobile services will be used to administer the jab to persons over 60 years of age but do not attend clinics at hospitals.

Meanwhile, a decision has been taken to administer the booster shot to persons over the age of 20 years with various health complications who had completed one month after receiving the second dose.

Accordingly, based on medical advice booster shots will be administered to cancer patients and those suffering from non-communicable diseases.

Furthermore, attention has been drawn towards the rural communities that are reportedly not adhering to health guidelines issued to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The President’s Media Division said a decision has been taken to educate the public in a bid to minimise the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus in rural areas.
