NMRA database: Software Engineer released on bail

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A Software Engineer of a private company, who was arrested and remanded over the missing files from the database of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority, has been released on bail.

The 34-year-old individual was attached to the company that set up the database for the NMRA.

He was released on two surety bail of Rs.1 million each by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika C Ragala this morning.

The suspect was banned from travelling overseas while his passport was also impounded.

He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department in September.

Police said the individual was arrested under provisions of the Computer Crimes Act and Public Properties Act.

The CID is continuing investigations into the missing data of the NMRA database.
