Chinese company seeks US $ 8 million in damages from NPQS

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Chinese Organic Fertilizer manufacturer has sent a Letter of Demand to the National Plant Quarantine Service seeking USD 8 million in compensation for issuing test reports violating the scientific test results and the misrepresentation of test results.

The Letter of Demand states that Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Co., Ltd., has suffered significant loss and damage of reputation and goodwill as well as existing and potential business, due to the negligent conduct of the National Plant Quarantine Service and the false reports.

The Chinese Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Co., Ltd. has stated that the organic fertilizer brought to Sri Lanka does not contain harmful bacteria called Erwinia and that it contains highly safe and highly efficient organic fertilizer.

It is also stated that the NPQS should make the payment of USD 8 Million within 3 days.
