(UTV | COLOMBO) – The third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is due to be administered in Sri Lanka from today.
Health units said the third dose or booster shot will be administered six months after the second dose is administered.
Director General of Health Services Specialist Dr. Asela Gunawardana said the Pfizer vaccine will be administered as the booster dose, while it will first be administered to medical staff and frontline workers including the Tri-Forces, Police, airport and port officials and those in the tourism industry.
Dr. Gunawardana noted thereafter it will be administered to persons over 60 years of age, following which it will be administered to individuals between the ages of 30-60, with other sicknesses.
He said the booster shot will finally be administered to all persons aged over 20 years.
