(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ceylon Electricity Board United Trade Union Alliance say the government will not reap the necessary results by making certain services essential, in hopes of curtailing future trade union action.
Convener of the Alliance Ranjan Jayalal has warned that they will stand up against wrong government decisions to sell ownership of the country’s power generation sector to foreign nations, and will not obey essential service regulations imposed.
Speaking to media on the issuance of a Gazette Notification by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, classifying 12 services including ports, fuel and post as essential, Ranjan Jayalal said the government has already given up control of the energy sector to foreign entities.
He spoke of a statement made by the American Ambassador, promising to intervene in Sri Lankas power generation sector.
