JVP goes to court challenging New Fortress LNG deal

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The JVP on Tuesday (26) filed a writ application with the Court of Appeal requesting to make null the decision made by the Cabinet of Ministers to transfer 40% of the Yugadhanavi Power Plant to US-based New Fortress Energy Inc.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ceylon Electricity Board, West Coast Power (Pvt) Ltd, Lakdhanavi Limited, The Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation were named as respondents among 43 others.

The application also seeks a writ of mandamus be made on the respondents preventing them from taking any actions with regard to the matter until the application is taken up and its examination is concluded.
