Navy arrests 5 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The naval personnel onboard a Fast Attack Craft in the North Central Naval Command arrested 5 Indian poachers engaged in illegal fishing activities in Sri Lankan waters, north of Mannar on Monday (01).

Along with the suspects, a fishing dhow was also taken into naval custody.

The arrested fishermen and fishing dhow were handed over to the Mannar Assistant Directorate of Fisheries for onward legal action.
