Appropriation Bill 2022, to be tabled in Parliament today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The 2022 Appropriation Bill is due to be tabled in Parliament today.

Leader of the House Minister Dinesh Gunawardena recently informed the Committee on Parliamentary Business that the 2022 Appropriation Bill will be tabled in Parliament.

The Appropriation Bill contains details of expenditure heads for each Ministry.

The Cabinet of Ministers also approved the 2022 Appropriation Bill. Sources said government expenditure is due to be reduced by around Rs.30 billion next year.

Funds allocated for the President and the health sector will be reduced next year, while the highest allocation has been made for national security. The second and third highest allocations will be made for the Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils & Local Government and the Ministry of Highways respectively. The expenditure heads for the Ministry of Education have also been increased. The 2022 Budget proposal is due to be presented in Parliament on the 12th of November.
