(UTV | COLOMBO) – The month of August recorded the highest number of tourists who visited Sri Lanka, according to the statistics of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.
Accordingly, 5,040 tourists have visited the country in August, the highest number of tourists to visit the country since April 2020.
The country went into lockdown at the end of March 2020, which lasted for several months until the country was reopened in December of the same year.
The total number of tourists who visited Sri Lanka within this year adds up to 24,377, in contrast to the 507,311 who visited the country within the first three months of 2020.
Within the month of August, 48.1% of the tourists have originated from Europe, while 18.1% of the total number of tourists have visited Sri Lanka from the Americas, and 31.8% from Asia-Pacific countries.
Canada, Germany, United States, and India have been identified as primary markets for tourists while Israel, Poland, and the Czech Republic have been identified as potential primary markets.
