Over 600 arrested for violating quarantine regulations

(UTV | COLOMBO) – In the last 24 hours, 646 persons have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations.

The Police Media Division stated that 72,113 persons have been arrested so far for violating quarantine regulations issued to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They noted that 13 blockades have been set up at 13 entry and exit points to the Western Province.

Police have searched 2,052 persons entering and exiting the Western Province yesterday.

The number of vehicles inspected is reported as 596.

A statement issued by the Police Media Unit stated that 198 vehicles attempting to cross the road without a valid permit were diverted.
