PLA donates 300,000 Sinopharm doses

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China has donated 300,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine to Sri Lanka, said Army Commander General Shavendra Silva.

The stock is expected to be airlifted to Colombo on August 2.

The Chinese Embassy in Colombo in a twitter message yesterday said that the PLA has gifted the stock of the Sinopharm vaccine based on the long standing friendship between Sri Lanka and China.

“Based on the long standing friendship and firmest solidarity between China and Sri Lanka and at the request of Sri Lankan military, 300,000 doses of #Sinophar#COVID19 vaccine have been gifted by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and will be airlifted to Colombo on 2 August,” the embassy tweeted.
