(UTV | COLOMBO) – The 1990s through the mid-2000s saw the golden age of Warner Bros. Animation’s DC efforts spearheaded by the trio of writer/producers Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, and Alan Burnett.
They delivered five series that have left a mark to this day – “Batman: The Animated Series,” “Batman Beyond,” “Superman: The Animated Series,” “Justice League” and “Justice League: Unlimited”.
Four of those five have seen Blu-ray releases, and now the sole outlier is finally set to join its brothers as Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC are set to bring “Superman: The Animated Series” to Blu-ray in time for the show’s 25th anniversary this year.
All 54 episodes have been remastered from the original 35mm Interpositive sources and have undergone extensive color correction, dirt and scratch clean up along with grain reduction – all while making sure not to affect the original lines in the artwork. Audio was retransferred from the original audio masters, and the series is presented in its original aspect ratio.
The Complete Series Blu-ray box set will release October 12th and also contains new special features and new audio commentaries along with a ‘series-defining featurette’ called “Superman: Timeless Icon” which “reveals the complicated journey of the show”.
