Golden Silk to revive in Cambodia [VIDEO]

(UTV | CAMBODIA) – The rare “Golden Silk” is endemic to the northeastern region of Cambodia, where it used to be largely produced by the royal families of the Khmer Empire.

The founder of the Golden Silk Project, Sophea Oum, who started her project in Banteay Srey 20 years ago, states that its establishment aims to create employment opportunities for more than 100 craftsmen, 80% of whom are women.

Additionally, it aims to revive the ancient traditions of golden silk production, and unique textile products, the prices of which range between 400 and 50,000 US dollars.
