“Robotech” comes to Funimation, Blu-ray

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Funimation has announced that the entirety of cult classic anime “Robotech” will begin streaming on the service this Fall, and a Blu-ray boxset containing all 85 episodes of the series will release on September 28th.

The space opera anime epic, which deals with humans defending their homeworld against alien domination, premiered in 1985 and consists of three ‘sagas’.

Every episode will be English dubbed and feature brand-new remastered versions of each episode in its original aspect ratio. The Blu-ray version also boasts Dolby TrueHD sound.

Funimation is also adding the movies “Robotech II: The Sentinels” and “Robotech the Shadow Chronicles” in standard definition. The series will be available via Funimation’s SVOD service in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Chile.

For those who don’t want the overly elaborate single box-set, a standard Blu-ray release of the three sagas will also happen over the Fall with ‘The Macross Saga’ on Sept 28th, ‘The Masters’ on November 16th and ‘The New Generation’ on December 14th.

All Blu-ray releases will be North America only.
