Three including Sub Inspector arrested while transporting heroin

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Three persons including a Sub Inspector of Police were arrested by the Police Organized Crime Prevention Unit at the Athurugiriya Expressway entrance while transporting 52kg of heroin worth over Rs.50 million.

Investigations revealed that the drugs were being transported from the Ahangama area.

It was also brought to light that a drug trafficker known as Salindu, said to be hiding abroad was behind the racket.

During the interrogation of the suspects, it was revealed that a similar consignment of narcotics had been brought into the Western Province about a week ago.

The drugs and the suspects to be handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
