Over 3.1 million Sri Lankans receive COVID-Vaccines

(UTV | COLOMBO) – As per the statistics of the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka has administered 3,140,256 doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far.

Accordingly, the first dose of COVID vaccines has already been administered to 2,391,683 individuals while the second dose has been administered to 748,573 individuals.

The first dose of the AstraZeneca COVISHIELD vaccine has been given to 925,242 individuals and the second dose of the same vaccine has been given to 356,610 persons.

The first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine has been given to 1,401,455 people after it was rolled out among Sri Lankan nationals on May 8. The second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine has been given to 382,972 individuals.

A total of 64,986 individuals have received the first dose of the Russia-made Sputnik V vaccine. The second dose of the Sputnik V vaccine has been given to 8,991 people.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in the country reached 233,064 of which 195,434 have totally recovered. Around 35,256 COVID-19 positive patients are currently receiving treatment at hospitals and Intermediate Treatment Centres. Meanwhile, a total number of 2,425 COVID-related fatalities have been reported in the country so far.
