Future Of “Clarice” now in serious doubt

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A few weeks back, CBS’ high-concept freshman series “Clarice” was being readied to move to the Paramount+ streaming service

Now, Deadline reports prospects for the series appear bleak as negotiations between Paramount+ and MGM have reached a stalemate.

In addition, there is reportedly no viable path for the “Silence of the Lambs” sequel series to continue on CBS with the broadcast network having already committed to a full slate of series for next season.

As such, this could mean the end for the high-profile drama unless a major breakthrough in negotiations with Paramount+ takes place – something that appears unlikely.

The series was the lowest-rated and least-watched scripted series in linear ratings for the network this past season, but has been a strong performer on Paramount+.

It also comes as two other CBS series, “SEAL Team” and “Evil,” also make the jump to the Paramount+ streamer. In those cases however the deals are already set and dates are in place.
