Labour Dept. extends salary concession

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Department of Labour has decided to extend a concession granted to the private sector pertaining to payment of salaries until the 31st of December this year.

It has been decided to grant the concession with the consent of the Commissioner General of Labour following requests by factories and institutions.

Therefore, the Labour Department requested heads of factories and institutions to submit requests in this regard.

The statement said people are given the opportunity to submit complaints or inquiries regarding matters of labour laws via e-mail, WhatsApp and Viber to the Labour Offices in the jurisdiction where the relevant employer is registered, although Labour Department offices are closed due to the coronavirus.

Accordingly, the Department informs that necessary advice can be obtained by dialling the contact numbers of all executives at the Labour Department’s Head Office and Regional Offices.
