Police patrols expanded in Jaffna

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Police have increased the number of day and night patrols in all areas of Jaffna and deployed more officers as the number of thefts in urban areas of Jaffna has started to increase during the travel restrictions.

Recently, a group broke into the wards of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital and stole items including mobile phones of patients and hospital staff members.

Meanwhile three houses and several shops near the town of Jaffna have been burgled during the last few days.

Police as well as STF personnel are participating in 24 mobile patrols throughout Jaffna.
