COVID-19 training for Ayurvedic staff

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Health Ministry has decided to provide special training on COVID-19 patient handling to the staff of Ayurvedic hospitals allocated to treat COVID patients. The training is to commence in the next two days, the Health Ministry Spokesman said. The decision was reached at the COVID-19 Special Performance Review Committee meeting held yesterday under the patronage of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the Ministry of Health.

At this meeting, it was decided to launch a special vaccination programme targeting garment factory employees in Investment Zones in various parts of the country.

The Minister pointed out that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed that employees working in Trade Zones which directly contribute to the uplift of the economy be given preference in vaccination.

State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural and Ayurvedic Hospitals Development and Community Health Sisira Jayakody said the Department of Ayurveda has been instructed to provide the necessary physical and human resources to combat COVID-19.Health Ministry Secretary Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena, and other officials were present.
