Police arrest 141 for breaking NIC system rule

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A further 223 persons were arrested yesterday for violating quarantine laws, bringing the total number of such arrests to 10, 073, Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Ajith Rohana stated.

Meanwhile, 141 persons who had not followed the last digit rule of their National Identity Card (NIC) when leaving home were also taken into custody, he added.

Additionally, several special police operations were carried out yesterday in the Western Province. These included an operation to check mobile vendors, inspection of work and business premises and checking those who were entering and leaving the Western Province.
