(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Cabinet of Ministers has granted their consent for the joint proposal made by the Justice and the Mass Media Ministers to enact necessary laws against the circulating of fake statements and misleading assertions publicised through the internet.
The Co-Cabinet Spokesperson Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the new laws will apply to social media as well.
Various countries have already taken action to legislate to address this problem, he said.
