Greengrass directs mad President thriller

(UTVNEWS | COLOMBO) –  Following on from the release of “News of the World,” filmmaker Paul Greengrass (“Captain Philips,” “United 93,” “The Bourne Ultimatum”) has found his next project with plans to direct the political thriller “Night of Camp David” at Universal Pictures.

Based on the 1965 novel by Fletcher Knebel, the story follows a junior U.S. Senator who comes to believe that the President is mentally unbalanced and sliding into paranoia.

The President seeks closer ties to the Soviet Union, believes a media cabal is out to get him, and wants to annex Canada. The book was republished in 2018.

Jed Mercurio, creator of British television sensations “Line of Duty” and “Bodyguard,” will pen the script. Greengrass is will also produce with Gregory Goodman
