TID arrests Jaffna Mayor under PTA

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Jaffna Mayor V. Manivannan arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) for deploying 5 workers of the Jaffna Municipal Council wearing uniforms similar to the terror outfit of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Organisation.

Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that 5 workers wearing uniforms similar to that worn by the LTTE Police Unit had been deployed for Jaffna Municipal Council work this week.

A complaint over the new Unit was lodged with the Jaffna Police and investigations had been launched.
