Sri Lanka to receive first batch of Sinopharm Vaccines today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A stock of 600,000 Sinopharm COVID-vaccines will arrive in Colombo today (31) via the SriLankan Airlines.

However, the Sinopharm COVID-vaccines from China has not yet been cleared for use on Sri Lankans, as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) have not approved the use of the Vaccine.

Accordingly, the Vaccines will initially be administered only on Chinese nationals based in Sri Lanka.

The stock of Vaccines was handed over to Beijing Capital Airport Sunday evening (28) to be sent to Sri Lanka.
