Navy apprehends 3 fishermen for fishing lobsters by illegal means

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command apprehended 3 fishermen who engaged in illegal lobster fishing practices by means of banned nets in the seas off Pigeon Island, Nilaweli on Saturday (22).

During the arrest, a dinghy, 3 unauthorized fishing nets, 1 kg of lobsters, 3 pairs of diving fins and 3 diving masks were taken into naval custody. The apprehended fishermen together with the dinghy and other fishing gear were handed over to the Kuchchaveli Police for onward investigations.
