MGM replaces lion mascot with a CG graphic [VIDEO]

(UTV | COLOMBO) – After a century of roaring, MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios) is replacing the live-action version of its lion mascot with a Computer Graphic (CG)-animated big cat made to resemble them for a new high-quality logo.

Eight real lions have been used by the studio since 1916, the most famous being the one that has been in use since 1957. The CG animated one is going by the name ‘Leo’.

MGM has reportedly been planning to reveal the new mascot for a long time now and developed it in conjunction with Baked Studios. The Studio had originally planned to debut the logo with the release of the James Bond film “No Time to Die,” but due to several delays on that film, they have opted to debut it online.

The new logo will make its theatrical debut in July with the premiere of the Channing Tatum-led comedy “Dog” and the Arethra Franklin biopic “Respect” in August.
