2,981 quarantine law violators arrested

(UTV | COLOMBO) – 2,981 persons have been arrested for violating quarantine regulations thus far.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said 11 persons were arrested yesterday for failing to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

He noted operations pertaining to quarantine regulations will be carried out today as well.

The DIG meanwhile said around 121,000 persons of 40,500 families has been directed to quarantine.

He noted when looking into self-quarantine it has been reported that several persons have left their residence, violating quarantine laws.

DIG Ajith Rohana said a special operation has been launched to take legal action against persons violating quarantine regulations by leaving their residence or if an outsider enters the relevant area.
