INTERPOL issues red notice to 129 wanted Lankan criminals

(UTV | COLOMBO) – A total of 129 red notices have been issued through the INTERPOL on Sri Lankan fugitives over various crimes in Sri Lanka, DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He also stated that a majority of the criminals are currently in Dubai in the UAE and some are reportedly hiding in India and European countries.

In addition to that, the INTERPOL also issued blue notices on the arrest of 87 Sri Lankans, the spokesman said.

DIG Ajith Rohana also stated that 40 out of 129 fugitives have been wanted over financial crimes in Sri Lanka, while another 24 suspects are wanted over various crimes.

He further said that, steps have been taken to bring back notorious Sri Lankan drug lord “Kimbula Ele Guna”, who was arrested in India, under the provisions of SAARC convention and bilateral agreement of both Sri Lanka and India.
