Quarantine curfew in Western Province from midnight today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Acting on the advice of the Director General of Health Services a quarantine curfew is to be imposed in the Western Province from midnight tonight (29) until 02 November. The move is aimed at containing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Issuing a communiqué, the Department of Government Information stated that curfew would be lifted on 5.00 AM on Monday (02). As a relief measure, those currently under curfew will be permitted to leave their homes to get essentials and medical supplies. They are only permitted to do so between 8.00 AM and 10.00 PM today (29).

Furthermore, it was stated that curfew in other areas will continue even after curfew is lifted in the Western Province on Monday at 5.00 AM.
