Orlando Bloom producing sci-fi series “Cleaners”

Orlando Bloom has been set to executive produce the new sci-fi series “The Cleaners” for Amazon.

The series is based on a sci-fi short story by Ken Liu, and adapted by “The OA” and “Mindhunter” writer Dominic Orlando who executive produces alongside Bloom, Liu and Adam Karasick.

The story is set in the near future where inanimate objects carry the memories of people’s experiences, and a certain number of the population have the ability to relive those memories by touch. Cleaners are specialists hired to sanitize the objects and relieve emotional burdens these memories may hold.

The series centers on a young man who inherits his family’s cleaning business, and takes on a mysterious new commission. This marks the second series the “Carnival Row” star has in development with Amazon, the other being a series he’s working on with human rights lawyer Jared Genser.
