Buwelikada collapse: Building owner arrested

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The owner of the five-storey building that collapsed in Buwelikada, Kandy, on the 20th of September has been arrested.

The Police Media Unit said the individual was instructed to appear before the Kandy Police at around 9.30 this morning to record a statement.

Police said the individual was apprehended after he recorded the statement pertaining to the incident at the Kandy Police station.

The five-storey building collapsed at dawn on the 20th of this month claiming the lives of a one-and-a-half-month-old infant and her parents.

Meanwhile, several investigations are currently underway pertaining to the incident while facts have also been presented in court over the building collapse.
