Swiss actor Basil Eidenbenz (“Victoria,” “The Favorite”) will take over the role of Eskel from Thue Ersted Rasmussen in the second season of Netflix’s “The Witcher”.
Rasmussen had to drop out of the series due to rescheduling conflicts caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The role of Eskel is the longtime friend and colleague of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill).
Other new cast members for thew new season include Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, and Mecia Simson as Francesca.
Production on the show’s second season was halted in mid -March during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. It was one of the first major scripted series to pause production in the U.K. due to the virus.
The show resumed filming on August 17th and the new episodes will air sometime next year.
