TikTok star leads “She’s All That” remake

(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – TikTok star Addison Rae Easterling has been cast in the lead role in “He’s All That,” a gender-swapped remake of 1999 teen comedy “She’s All That” at Miramax.

The original film was a modern update of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion” (which also formed the basis of “My Fair Lady”), and followed a popular high school jock (Freddie Prinze Jr.) who, after getting dumped by his girlfriend (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), attempts to transform one of the school’s nerdy outcasts (Rachael Leigh Cook) into the next prom queen.

Reviews were mixed for the film itself, though the performances were well received – especially Cook and a young Paul Walker in a supporting role as Prinze Jr.’s bullying superjock friend which marked a rare villain turn for the late actor. Kieran Culkin, Anna Paquin, Usher and Gabrielle Union also starred.

19-year-old Easterling, who has 60 million followers on TikTok, takes on the Prinze Jr. role in the new take on the original as it follows an influencer who attempts to turn a nerdy boy into prom king. She will be one of the first TikTok stars to act in a major studio film.

R. Lee Fleming, who wrote the 1999 movie, will pen the new version while “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” remake director Mark Waters will helm the project. Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay will produce.
