Special transport services for election

UTV | COLOMBO – The Ministry of Transport Services Management says a special public transportation service will operate from today to facilitate persons travelling to and from hometowns in lieu of the General Election.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board is expected to deploy all 5,300 buses for services.

The program will be in effect until the 10th of August.

The Transport Ministry said steps have also been taken to deploy 600 buses of the Inter Passenger Transport Authority if the need arises.

Meanwhile all trains attached to Sri Lanka Railways will also be deployed for operations.

Steps have been taken to extend some train journeys in order to facilitate commuters.
