‘Less school days will affect van industry’

UTV | COLOMBO – The All Island School Van Operators Association says it has decided to hold discussions with the Minister of Education pertaining to the decision reached to conduct school for different grades on varying days of the week.

Chairman of the Association Malsiri de Silva said there is now a higher possibility of school students and their parents opting to use public transport due to the decision, adding therefore that the school van industry is likely to be further impacted.

He noted that the number of students attending school would also decrease.

De Silva stressed that while the health and safety of school children remained the focal point, a resolution to said concerns must be sought through discussions with the subject Minister.
