Police receive Rs.1 billion for election duties

UTV | COLOMBO – The Police Department has received Rs.1 billion from the National Election Commission for election duties related to the Parliamentary Polls.

The Head of the Police Elections Secretariat, Senior DIG Priyantha Weerasuriya said funds will be used for expenses related to deploying officers on election duty, providing additional health facilities and basic necessities.

Meanwhile, the Police Department said nearly 75,000 police officers will be deployed from the 3rd of August on election duty.
