Armed Forces to provide security for Counting Centres

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Armed Forces will be deployed within a radius of 1 kilometre of each Counting Centre after voting on 05 August to provide security, the Daily Mirror reported.

The Officials attached to the Election Commission will commence counting of ballot papers only in the morning of 06 August instead of the customary practice of counting which used to commence on the same night after voting closed.

Two agents from each party and an independent group will be allowed to stay at Counting Centres.
