Sripali Weerakkody retires from int’l cricket

UTV | COLOMBO – Sri Lanka woman cricketer Sripali Weerakkody has decided to retire from international cricket with immediate effect. She has officially informed her intention to Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday.

The 34-year-old former fast bowling all-rounder has represented Sri Lanka in 89 ODI internationals and 58 T20 internationals.

Weerakkody has recently qualified as a fitness trainer in Australia.

She has become the first Sri Lankan women cricketer to qualify as Master and Fitness Trainer in Australia. She has been certified by the Australain Institute of Fitness. After her retirement decision she said “I have to call it a day. So I feel this is the right time for me.

“The decision to retire was on personal grounds,” added Weerakkody.
