SP invites Premier to a debate on the economy

UTV | COLOMBO – Leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Sajith Premadasa has invited Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to an open debate pertaining to plans on improving the country’s economy.

Addressing a rally in Kalawana, Premadasa said the people will determine who is more knowledgeable pertaining to addressing the concerns in the economy.

He stressed there are many ways to strengthen the economy, explaining that when oil prices reduce, the price of goods also decreases, the cost of living reduces and money is saved.

The former Opposition Leader said income and consumption is saved and then the economy also improves when money is saved.

Premadasa however claimed that the Prime Minister isn’t too pleased when he makes such statements and therefore invited the Premier to an independent and open debate on the economy, the people and future plans.

He stressed the people will be able to determine and decide who has knowledge on the economy and who is educated on the matter.
