Election related complaints rise to 3,871

UTV | COLOMBO -The number of complaints lodged with the National Election Commission in relation to the 2020 General Election has increased to 3,871.

The Commission in a statement said all complaints are lodged pertaining to flouting of election laws.

187 complaints have been filed during a 24-hour period that ended at 4pm yesterday.

Accordingly, the Election Commission stated that 832 complaints have been lodged with the National Election Complaints Management Centre, while a total of 3,039 complaints have been lodged with the District Election Complaints Management Centres thus far.

The upcoming General Election will be held on the 5th of August.
