Illegal Assets & Intellectual Property Unit to be set up

UTV | COLOMBO – The Sri Lanka Police has decided to establish a special unit under the name Illegal Assets and Intellectual Property Investigation Unit.

Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Jaliya Senaratne speaking to media has said the circular for the new unit will be issued by the Acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne.

The new unit will be tasked with confiscating and taking legal action over terrorism, assets of terror organisations, assets acquired through money laundering and the narcotic trade.

The unit will be operated by the Senior Deputy Inspector General in Charge of the Criminal Investigations Department.
