10 new COVID-19 cases; Total rises to 2,697

UTV | COLOMBO – The number of coronavirus cases in the country has risen to 2,697 after ten new patients were identified yesterday.

The Government Information Department said three inmates of the Senapura Rehabilitation Centre and three inmates of the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre tested positive for the virus.

The Department said three associates of persons who tested positive from the Kandakadu centre, including a 12-year-old boy had also contracted the coronavirus.

Two persons were identified as residents of Gampaha while the 12-year-old boy is a resident of Rajanganaya.

A returnee from India also tested positive for the virus.

Accordingly 674 individuals continue to receive treatment. Coronavirus recoveries are presently at 2,012.

99 individuals suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.
