Wildlife Officers engaged in sick-note campaign

UTV | COLOMBO – All Wildlife Officers across the island have launched trade union action in the form of a sick note campaign today.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the isle All Ceylon Joint Wildlife Officers’ Association Chairman Prabash Karunathilake said the decision to launch trade union action was taken over the failure to grant incentives, to wildlife officers who have been working around the clock for many years, even despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the island.

Karunathilake expressed hope that authorities will take necessary action to resolve their concerns promptly.

He said official have not invited unions for discussions thus far.

He explained that incentives were pledged to be provided in March by the subject Minister, however the allocation was never finalised.
