Inmate admitted for PCR test falls to death at the Hospital

UTV | COLOMBO – An inmate who was admitted to the Negombo Hospital for a PCR test on Covid-19 has died after falling from the eighth floor of the hospital, the Police said.

They said the inmate was admitted to the Hospital on July 12 from the Negombo Prison and were under observation of the Prisons security at the Hospital.

He was imprisoned in connection with a heroin related offense.

When the inmate was reported missing last night, the police and the security personnel of the hospital had found him lying dead on the ground early this morning.

The deceased was identified as a 36-year-old resident of Kadirana North, Negombo.

The results of his PCR test are due today.
