Govt. dismisses claims of holidays as false

UTV | COLOMBO – The Department of Government Information says rumours circulating of holidays being declared during the next few days due to the coronavirus situation in the country are false.

Director General of the Department Nalaka Kaluwewa noted the Government has taken no such decision.

He said many messages were circulated on social media as of last night, of holidays being declared during the next few days.

He stressed all such messages were false.

When contacted by a prominent online news portal in the isle , Nalaka Kaluwewa added the Department of Government Information will make an official statement in this regard, if holidays are declared.

He requested citizens not to panic and to heed only official and verified news.
