(UTV | COLOMBO) – Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake says the public must vote for politicians who can bring real change to the country.
Speaking during an event in Colombo, Former MP Dissanayake said his party will strive to change the voting trend to create a better political culture in the country.
He said the public is dismayed by current treads, stating that people are are unhappy with facilities provided at hospitals and pertaining to public transport services.
The JVP leader claimed that the public is hopeful of electing a government that strengthens the entire public service.
Dissanayake noted that although the public has good intentions at elections, citizens continue to vote for politicians who are inefficient and those involved in corrupt practices.
He noted that even in the past few elections, the public had voted in persons who have failed the country.
Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said he has observed that voters inside polling booths and outside are two entirely different entities, and stressed on the importance of translating good intentions into votes in favour of efficient politicians.
Former MP Dissanayak said the use of digital platforms can be vital to influence the people and elect better politicians to public office.
He therefore noted that the JVP will use various platforms in a bid to reach the voters and educate the importance of changing the present political culture in the country.
