Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka rise to 2,076

UTV | COLOMBO – The number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country has risen to 2,076 after the detection of two COVID-patients yesterday.

The Government Information Department said two returnees from Bahrain tested positive for COVID-19.

Accordingly, 785 persons who returned to the country recently have contracted the novel coronavirus.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 162 COVID-19 patients are currently undergoing medical treatment at nine hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 recoveries increased to 1,903, after 18 more individuals were discharged from hospitals.

Another 38 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under medical observation, at present. 11 deaths in the country have been linked to the novel coronavirus.
