COVID-19 recoveries rise to 1,903

UTV | COLOMBO -Another 18 individuals who contracted the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said 1,903 COVID-19 patients have recovered thus far.

Five persons were discharged from the Teldeniya Base Hospital while three each were discharged from the Kattankudy Base Hospital, Minuwangoda Base Hospital and Panagoda Army Hospital.

Two COVID-19 patients were also discharged from the Welikanda Base Hospital while one individual each was discharged from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases and the Iranawila Hospital during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile the number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the country rose to 2,074 after five COVID-19 patients were detected yesterday.

The Government Information Department said a recent arrival from Bangladesh, a returnee from the United States, an individual who arrived from Madagascar and two returnees from Qatar tested positive for COVID-19.

Accordingly, 783 Sri Lankans who returned to the country recently have contracted the novel coronavirus.

160 COVID-19 patients are currently undergoing medical treatment while another 38 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under medical observation, at present.
