Distribution of postal ballots concludes today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The issuance and the distribution of postal ballots for the 2020 General Election will conclude today.

The distribution of postal ballots commenced on Monday.

Marking of postal ballots for the 2020 Parliamentary Election will take place on the 14th, 15th, 16th and the 17th of July.

The National Election Commission has allocated the 13th of July as a special day for health sector workers to mark their postal ballots.

Furthermore, the 20th and 21st of July have been set aside as additional days to mark the postal ballots for 2020 General Election.

Meanwhile, the compilation of booklets of ballot papers of the Colombo, Kaltura and Kurunegala districts for the 2020 General Election has been completed.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal in the island, Government Printer Ganagani Kalpana said only the ballot papers of the Gampaha district have not been finalised.

The Gampaha district has the highest number of registered voters.

She said the finalising of ballot papers of all districts is expected to be completed by tomorrow or on Friday.

Subsequently, printed ballot papers will be handed over to the National Election Commission.
